How to prep your home for an in-home newborn lifestyle session
Part of why I love in-home newborn sessions is that everyone can be more relaxed and comfortable. Shooting these sessions in the comfort of your home allows for parents to have all the normal resources, making everyone (including baby!) feel more comfortable and relaxed.
I love newborn lifestyle sessions because they allow me to be a fly on the wall for all of the tender interactions between a new family unit
Here are the 3 most important things to do to prep for your in home session:
1: Let there be light
Find light! Head towards your windows and open the blinds. Where does the light fall? Its okay if you don’t have an immaculate space straight out of Pinterest we really only need light, everything else is optional! Some families opt to forgo a nursery which means we use your couch, parents bed, siblings room, or just a wall.
2: Declutter
Your home does NOT have to be perfect. I promise. It's your home and it's supposed to look lived in. Clear space near your windows and toss the rest in a closet until I leave. I'm not a neat freak by any means, so there are no worries to go into panic mode and clean everything up before I get there.
3: Eat
Feed everyone, including yourself! Babies are unpredictable, and that is totally okay. I suggest to feed babe about 20 min prior to your photographers arrival so they are a tad sleepy. I also assume there will need to be other feeding sessions while I am present so don’t stress if that happens to you.
Extra tip - Send cell phone photos of the area you want to use at the specific time of day your session will be for expertise advice. Even send perspective outfits as your photographer will know what may look the best on camera.
Check out these images from baby Lita’s in-home session. (You will also see some images I took of big sister in the hospital and in her home as well!)

Having three sons is like having an unpredictable roller coaster ride. There’s never a dull moment, and you never know what’s going to happen next. One minute they’re playing video games and the next they’re off on some wild adventure - You are guaranteed to have a huge grocery bill!
When it comes to sports and activities, having only sons can be a double-edged sword. On one hand, it’s great to have them all playing soccer or basketball together. On the other hand, it can be a bit overwhelming to try and wrangle them all into one place at the same time.
Life with three sons is a lot of fun. It can be chaotic at times but it’s always full of laughter and joy. So if you’re a parent of three sons, just remember to buckle up and enjoy the ride!
Here are a few photos of all three brothers together and some with dad.
